Twins, Rangers tangle with eyes on October

Gardenhire hears it from fans

Minnesota Twins pitcher Kevin Slowey had thrown seven no-hit innings against the Oakland Athletics.

Manager Ron Gardenhire made the ever unpopular decision of removing Slowey from the game and allowing his bullpen to polish off the victory.

Gardenhire said he understood the booing from the home crowd and would have done the same thing himself.

However, he noted that he would have made the same decision 1,000 times considering all the facts. (Read More…)

Twins push streak to six, lead to five in AL Central

Joe Mauer blasted a home run in the midst of a 4-for-5 night Tuesday, helping propel the Twins to their sixth-consecutive victory in a 7-6 win over the Chicago White Sox at Target Field. (Read More…)

Twins acquire Capps

The Minnesota Twins have acquired closer Matt Capps in a trade with the Washington Nationals.

The Twins sent a top catching prospect and another minor leaguer to Washington in exchange for Capps.

Surprisingly, the Twins have already announced that Capps will retain the closer’s role with them.

That means that closer Jon Rauch will move into the setup role, which can’t make him too happy. (Read More…)
