Twins trade for closer Capps

Matt Capps’ season highlight appeared to come July 12, when the then-Washington Nationals reliever earned the victory in the All-Star game.

Now, the right-handed closer may get a chance to pitch in the bright lights again … in October.

Capps was traded from the cellar-dwelling Nationals to Minnesota, a team squarely in the hunt for the AL East title. (Read More…)

Hudson injury could push trade

Minnesota Twins second baseman Orlando Hudson is hurt again, possibly forcing the team to make a trade.

Hudson injured his oblique in an at-bat, and those injuries can be very stubborn and take quite a long time to heal.

The Twins aren’t going to wait around too long before putting Hudson on the disabled list and making a deal.

Ty Wigginton could be a good target because he could play second base and then move over to third when Hudson is healthy. (Read More…)

Morneau placed on DL

The Minnesota Twins have placed first baseman Justin Morneau on the disabled list with a concussion.

Morneau said he is feeling significantly better over the last few days but that he tends to feel worse as the day progresses.

He is hoping he can start hitting soon, but said it’s hard to think about hitting a 90 MPH fastball right now. (Read More…)

Minnesota Twins midseason review

The Minnesota Twins got off to a slow start but have heated up and made their way into first place in the American League Central division.

First baseman Justin Morneau is having a tremendous season and has been supported by catcher Joe Mauer.
